FARMERS MARKETS
Ottawa Farmers’ Market at Lansdowne Park
Client Profile:
As part of the redevelopment of Lansdowne Park in Ottawa, the existing farmers’ market needed to be accommodated into the new plan. We worked collaboratively with the City and the Market to ascertain key criteria that the vendors required to successfully run a farmers’ market on the site in terms of products sold, number of vendors, pedestrian flows, etc. We worked with the City to help them understand the needs of both the indoor and outdoor market and how the City can ensure the Markets success both outdoors and indoors during the winter.
Scope of Work:
• Worked collaboratively with the Farmers’ Market and the City
• Met with stakeholders to understand the economic dynamics of how the vendors set up, sell their products, how customers move about the site, and what additional amenities such as electricity would be required on the site
• Developed a program for the Market and the City that determined how to successfully integrate the Farmers’ Market into the redeveloped site so that it would complement the other uses
